Alcohol Abuse/Alcoholism Facts

There have been many articles and blogs about alcoholism and its impacts on the individual and society. However, this article is not one of them. This article will state some interesting facts and figures about alcoholism/alcohol abuse.
1.      1 in 14 adults in America are alcoholic
2.      More than half of the population has one or more alcoholics in their family
3.      2 in 3 murders and suicides are performed by those who have abused alcohol
4.      People who consumed alcohol before the age of 15 have a 500% higher chance of being an alcoholic adult than those who have not
5.      The 3rd largest killer on Earth: ALCOHOL
6.      A man is an alcoholic if he consumes >14 drinks a week
7.      A woman is an alcoholic if she consumes >7 drinks a week
8.      Alcoholics believe alcoholism “just happens”
9.      Alcohol abuse leads to 80% of all date rapes
10.  Long term effects include, but are not limited to:
a.       Liver disease
b.      Heart disease
c.       Psychiatric and social problems
d.      Increased risk of certain cancers
11.  Alcoholic males are 15 times more likely to suffer erectile dysfunction than males who aren’t alcoholic

a.       Most likely give birth to a baby suffering from Fetal Alcohol Syndrome
b.      Give birth to a baby that will die from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
